Katie Kheel graduated cum laude from Connecticut College with a BA in Dance and Government, and received the Joan Connell Memorial Dance Award for outstanding artistry in dance. In NYC, she has performed as a modern and jazz dancer with various professional dance companies.

In 2006, Katie joined Discovery Programs as a dance teacher and soon afterward became involved as an assistant and then teacher in Discovery’s early childhood program. Previously she has taught at Muscota New School- PS 180, Neighborhood Holistic in Harlem and Moving Arts in Harvard, MA. She also has worked as a legal assistant for Sidley Austin and The Legal Aid Society Juvenile Rights Practice.

In December 2010, Katie became the Director of Discovery Programs with the full support of the faculty. In 2019, Katie became a Board Member of the non-profit, Mark DeGarmo Dance and then in 2021, the President of the board. She lives on the Upper West Side and is a mom to daughter, Sabrina.
