Seido Karate is a worldwide respected traditional Japanese martial art with the headquarters here in NYC. Karate instructor Karin Ferber Hillman studies over 17 years with the founder Grandmaster- Kaicho T. Nakamura, and has many years of experience teaching children street awareness and martial arts. She is a 3rd degree karate black belt champion and is an engaging instructor. Karin provides the ultimate atmosphere for children to learn discipline, respect, focus, teamwork, decision making, self-control, balance, fitness, coordination and strong self esteem. Our karate classes incorporate fun games, obstacle courses, as well as traditional structured activities that can then be influential in their daily life. We are active but we also learn how to be calm. There is a very short meditation at the beginning and ending of each class, to get ready before we start and to reflect upon what we did at the end. Kids learn how to stand up for themselves and be proud, they learn how to be aware, how to defend themselves, and how to work together, think fast, make smart decisions, focus, and respect their family- especially parents and to be grateful.
