Coronavirus Updates!

Dear Parents,

I know we are all getting flooded inboxes with Coronavirus information. It can be confusing, overwhelming and stressful, so I will keep this as brief as possible. Although many private schools are closing early for Spring Break, Discovery Programs remains open for classes. We were closed on Monday for the Synagogue’s Purim preparations that took place in our space. If you have not taken a look at our calendar of closings, I urge you to do so now so that you are aware of our previously scheduled holidays and closings for the rest of the semester. We are open for the next two weeks during private school break and are running our Gymnastics Camp during that time as well.

The NYCDOH and NYCDOE have put out guidelines and protocols for schools to follow. I am in communication with the Director of the Synagogue and the other directors of the preschools in the building and we will continue to monitor school closures and follow the protocols set out by the entities above.

If you, your child, or your caregiver is being tested for COVID-19 or gets a positive result, please inform me immediately by email at katie.discovery@gmail.com.

We are continuing our extra cleaning during the day of all gymnastics mats, props, toys, tables, frequently touched surfaces, etc. We have been reminding students and families to wash hands or hand sanitize before class, and at busy afternoon times, we are adding this into our entrance routines for class. Also, please make sure your child knows that they should wash hands after using the bathroom.

As I mentioned before, I know all of this information is overwhelming. Perhaps to lighten the mood, have your child show you a step from their recital dance, a new skill they have learned in the gym, or ask them about their favorite moment from class. Be well.
