Spring 2016 Welcome & Reminders

Dear Parents,
I hope everyone is settling into the new semester. We are so excited to see old faces and meet new families. We wanted to review a few protocols as we start this semester. Please review the entire email. It is important that we create a safe and comfortable environment for all of our Discovery families and students.

Lost & Found
We will be donating all reusable items from the current Lost & Found. Many of these items have been here since the beginning of the school year. If you think you lost something at Discovery, please swing by to check by this Friday, February 12th.

Afternoon Pick-Up
Please note that when classes are dismissed, parent or caregivers must come up to the door. This is especially the case when we transition between classes at 4:40pm. Make-sure to keep your ears open for when the coaches announce pick-up. There is a lot of traffic at that time and we want to make sure every child has an adult.

Self-Dismiss Policy
If your child is old enough to walk home alone, please email outlining that you are giving permission for your child to leave Discovery alone. We need a written copy of your consent in our files. If we do not have a written consent, we cannot release your child to leave.

Recreational classes ending after 7:00PM
We have a few recreational classes that finish after 7:00pm. If that is the case, the Front Desk will be closed. The coach will be here with the students until they are picked up by an adult (or self-dismissed). The coach will have access to parent’s contact information in case of an emergency. If you would like to speak with the Front Desk, please contact us before 7pm.

Lobby
We love seeing all of your smiling faces every week in our main lobby, but there are a few rules that we would like to remind our Discovery families.

1. No running, climbing, gymnastics, jumping, etc. – We understand that this is a great time and space for your little ones to relax after school, but our lobby has very hard floors, steep stairs and mirrors. For you and your child’s safety please do not participate in any of the before mentioned activities.
2. Please clean upWe welcome families to have lunch and snacks in our lobby. Please just make sure to clean up after yourself. We want to make sure the space is nice for the next person that uses it.
3. No playing with/on small tables and chairs – Please do not climb or sit on the tables. Please do not stack, climb or push around the small chairs.
4. Noise during classes – There will be a few classes hosted in the upper landing in the lobby this semester. Please be respectful of the class if you are waiting in the lobby during this time and try to keep the noise level as low as possible.

We thank you all for your cooperation! If you have any questions please feel free to reach out at any time.

All the best,
The Discovery team
