A Note from the Director

Dear Parents,

We are already mid-summer, but we are reminiscing on the spring semester this month. It was busy and exciting and full of accomplishments. It’s always a joy to see families come and watch their children in the classes at the end of the semester whether the child is two or twelve.

We had many successful events this spring! Our beautiful dance recital highlighted the teachers creative choreography and our shining dancers. We celebrated a wonderful team gymnastics season at our annual awards gala. Our karate promotions showcased our strong and dedicated karate students.

Our 28 staff members helped make these events very special, including our administrative staff, who are the glue organizing and coordinating it all. We are lucky to have thoughtful and creative staff members.

Spring Semester Highlights

Gymnastics

Gym Director Mary and eight gymnasts went to Las Vegas to compete in the USAIGC World Championships! Here are the results:
- Darien placed 10th on uneven bars for Copper 1
- Mia placed 7th on bars and 10th on beam for Copper 2
- Hadley placed 4th on vault, 6th on beam, 4th on floor and earned the All Around World Champion Bronze medal for the Bronze level
- Dafne placed second on vault and first on bars, beam and floor and earned the Gold Medal All Around World Champion Gold Medal for the Bronze level
We had 334 gymnastics students and 61 team gymnasts this year!

Dance

We had a Spring Recital in June with the theme Color the World! Some groups went with a color-themed song, like “Espresso” and “Green Light” and others chose bright costumes to bring color onto the stage.
We welcomed a new group of 2-year-old ballerinas this year who were so excited to twirl, leap, and read dance stories! We’re excited for them to continue the legacy of the Discovery dance program.

Martial Arts

We had incredible moments in martial arts this year! As you may have seen in the May newsletter, we promoted one student to junior black belt and one student to senior blackbelt.
We had our end of semester parent observation and many of the students also advanced to their next belt level!

Toddler Classes

We got to know many new families this year! Some toddlers took up to three classes with us, with combinations like gym, ballet, and art, or On My Own and Playpark. It’s been a joy to see them develop over the school year and feel so comfortable in our classrooms.
At the end of the school year, On My Own had a pancakes and PJ day, where they cooked pancakes in the classroom! They had so much fun wearing pajamas to school and having a special snack.
