The Spark! June/July 2026

A Note from the Director

Dear Parents,

What a busy couple of months. We ended the Winter/Spring semester and began Summer Camp immediately. It was an exciting end of the year with our special events and parent observation days. I loved to see the students’ bright smiles and pride in their accomplishments.

Summer Camp has been fun and we’ve changed up a few things this year with schedules and routines. We offer summer camp through September 4th, so if you are looking for end of summer coverage, we are here! In mid-June we also launched our Fall Semester programming. Take a look at the schedule linked below and book soon so you don’t get locked out of your preferred class.

In other news, we’ve had some coaching and staff transitions. Coach Marcus has moved back to Arizona and Coach Mattie has moved on to a full-time position in film production. Dance Teacher Julia will be moving on to theological studies and getting married! Finally, our Program and Marketing Coordinator, Sam Gelbert, will be leaving at the end of July and going to grad school for social work. We are disappointed to share the news of staff transitions but these are joyful moments for them and we support them. We are so grateful for all of these staff members who have made such an impact in our program on our students. We will miss them.

Warm Wishes,
Katie Kheel

June End of Semester Recap

In June, we invited parents to watch classes and had advancement ceremonies for our karate students. We had the end-of-year team party, celebrating gymnasts and coaches for all of their hard work throughout the school year.

Please enjoy the compilation of photos from these exciting events!

Gymnastics and Team Camp Recap

In our younger groups, some of the skills campers are working on include: run and straight jump onto the airmat for vault, swinging on rings and practicing pullovers with mat support on bars, forward and backward rolls, cartwheels and handstands on floor, and hops and bear walks on beam!

In our older or more advanced groups, some of the skills campers are working on include handstand flatback on vault, back hip circle and squat on on bars, front and back walkovers and back handsprings on floor, and round off dismounts on beam!

Younger campers go outside to the playground or park and play games and sports, and older campers get extra practice in the gym. They have been loving the art projects so far this summer as well!

Discovery Campers Recap

Our 2-4 year old campers are having a blast making new friends, exploring the weekly themes, and playing on the rooftop playground!

Some favorite art projects so far include:
-abstract portraits inspired by Picasso for “Artful Antics” week
-classroom rainbow murals for “Color” week
-firework paintings for “4th of July” week

Campers especially love water play days! We have a water table, sprinkler, and spray bottles that campers love spraying their teachers with.

The gym is many of the campers’ favorite activity of the day! Campers swing on the rings, practice forward rolls and cartwheels, and walking on the balance beam.
